"Knowing yourself means knowing the Dreaming from which problems and symptoms arise. In that world, there is less pressure from human or social behaviour; you are closer to nature, to existence as it is."

"When a person rediscovers that his deepest nature is one with All, he is relieved of the burden of time, of worry; he is released from the chains of alienation and separate-self existence. Seeing that the self and other are one, he is relieved from the fear of life..."

What Help and Changes Can I Expect?

Our aim is to promote support, well being and education. Problems that we suffer from are partly our own, but they are also created by the culture that shaped us, they belong to the times in which we live. A physical illness, a psychological problem or a relationship difficulty are not only created or inherited by us but are set in the cultural field in which we live and are a part of that field. With this awareness of underlying patterns it is possible to develop skills and objectivity through working with difficulties that bring relief, choice and freedom.

In counselling with us you can expect to develop skills and experience beneficial changes and resolutions to your problems. We aim to be sympathetic, understanding, and occasionally challenging, always with the intention of following your whole nature in a way that is useful to you.

Sam, a student, says with frustration and despair, "I just don't seem to be able to understand what I'm supposed to learn in college however hard I try. My teachers are impatient and not interested in helping me. I try and try but I can't get it, it makes me so angry at myself."

The therapist repeats the sentence gently and adds a little more in an attempt to complete the process and bring more awareness to what is not said.

Therapist: "I try and try to learn because I'm ashamed of not knowing, looking stupid or something like that but, just like the teachers, I am uninterested in the part of me that is unable to learn. In fact, I hate that part and I have no interest in trying to understand it. I think I want to learn but I'm totally uninterested in learning about what is really happening inside of myself."

The therapist's intervention seems to be working because Sam's momentary feedback, his signals, are positive and his mood changes. He is quiet for a moment and then says with emotion in his voice,

"I see myself in my mind's eye cowering in a dark corner terrified of that attitude."

"What attitude?" asked the therapist.

"Well, I've been kicking myself around all these years, demanding performance without even knowing I was doing it. How could I have learned when I've been so split off from myself?"

In this example, Sam's depression eased immediately as he saw his history pass in front of him and perceived the innocent one inside that had been so continually abused by internalised cultural attitudes regarding learning. Sam, in the moment, has access to a deeper level of awareness, has become his own teacher and is able to learn naturally with new penetrating perception without oppression.

methods in working with:

Your innate body knowledge.
Your mental faculties and imagination.
Relationships, conflict and love.
Your relationship to your life's path.

Depending on the process that you choose, or are pressed to focus on in sessions, you can expect to gain life changing skills in any or all of the following areas:

If you suffer from depression, anxiety, fear or other psychological symptoms and altered states associated with psychiatry, expect to intervene with the process, with our help, and feel relief, and change.
If you suffer from illness such as cancer, M.S., heart problems, etc., expect to have an encounter with the deeper meaning to your life, or your 'path', and to work to integrate that meaning.
If you are troubled by relationships, expect to gain an insight into the dynamics that make and brake your relationships and the interventions that bring outer resolution.
If your difficulties are with the world at large (for example at work, or with a group) or with minority issues such as racism, homophobia, sexism, etc, expect help to deal with field dynamics, by which we mean what which happens in the spaces or atmospheres around the words and actions.
You may need help in understanding a problem that a loved one has, a family situation, or a problem a work colleague suffers from. If so, then expect helpful choices to intervene and help them, or ways of detaching from the problem.

Working on the phone

While working on the phone is not for everyone, it is nevertheless highly effective for most people. For example, this is a typical response from a former client after working on the phone.

"When you suggested that we work on the phone if I couldn't find a therapist in the area I was moving to,  I felt it wouldn't work because I was so used to working with you face to face. It wouldn't be the same, I thought. But it feels completely natural and just as powerful..."
