"Knowing yourself means knowing the Dreaming from which problems and symptoms arise. In that world, there is less pressure from human or social behaviour; you are closer to nature, to existence as it is."

Arnold Mindell.

"When a person rediscovers that his deepest nature is one with All, he is relieved of the burden of time, of worry; he is released from the chains of alienation and separate-self existence. Seeing that the self and other are one, he is relieved from the fear of life..."

Ken Wilber.

Welcome to 1 to 1 Phone Counselling.

Phone therapy is a private, effective and convenient way to solve your problems. At 1 to 1 Phone Counselling we work with problems holistically, always aware that the underlying patterns contained within our problems hold the key to their resolution. For example:

Jane rang to say that she wanted to work with her cancer that had spread throughout her body. She had just a few months to live. The therapist asked,

"How do you experience the cancer right now, Jane."

"I don't really feel anything except a sort of tickling in my side towards the back."

"If you were to give that tickling sensation to me how would you do that."

"I would poke you with my finger."

"Great? Go ahead and use that finger to poke something near you, a cushion would do if you have one near, and imagine the cushion is someone's back."

After a few moments Jane says, "It feels good to do this, it makes me smile."

By repeating the subjective experience of poking, Jane is now identifying with  making the pain and illness rather than receiving it only. "If you're enjoying it then keep doing it." The therapist said. After some moments she began to chuckle and the chuckle soon grew to a laugh. She laughed and laughed and didn't stop until she was interrupted. The laughter was so infectious that the therapist had to laugh too. "What's so hilarious?" The therapist eventually asked.

"The little me is so worried about dying but I am the universe, there is no identity in me, I've already died a thousand times." Then she burst out laughing again. After another prolonged period the therapist responded, speaking and acting as though he was her normal fearful "little" self.

"But I am just a normal woman and I'm scared of death. It's okay for you to have that perspective of "no death" but I am flesh and blood and I die. I have no knowledge of death." Howls of laughter again.

In this process the client found and became the figure that one could say created cancer, was standing behind cancer or was the pattern within cancer. The itch and the poking feeling were signals that are a dreaming process that was brought to awareness. It is awareness of this underlying dreaming that resolves our problems. Working with all the patterns that underpin our physical, psychological and relationship problems brings the awareness that enables us resolve them and helps us to become whole.

Jane discovered and was convinced of her own reality beyond death. In fact, she discovered that she needed to die to retain life. It was an experience that changed her life, she transformed from being the victim to that of being the creative principle underlying the cancer. Further work focused on the loss that her loved ones would feel when she had gone. She went on to help them from this new perspective.

Each problem has its own structure. Another person with the same cancer may have a completely different process and outcome. There is little that I am certain of in life, but one thing we discover over and over again in our work is that illness, problems and disturbances bring with them the seeds of solution for our wholeness, and they provide the potential next step in our growth.

Jane, or other people referred to in this website, are composites of typical situations and do not refer to actual people living or dead.

Counselling and psychotherapy on the phone is more than simply giving support and discussing problems, although support is one of the foundations of our work. You will also discover and use, with our help, powerful tools that effect real change in your condition and/or circumstances. Obstacles to freedom or happiness deserve attention, focus and penetration.

A brief list of typical problems:

Short or Long Term Depression - Employment Difficulties - Relationship Problems - Habitual Behaviours - Anxieties, Fears and Phobias - Anger - Bullying - Loss and Bereavement - Shyness - Issues around Food and Eating - Life Crises - Spiritual Crises - Physical Illness - Agoraphobia - Physical and Sexual Abuse - Addictions - Issues with Assertiveness - Sexual Orientation Issues - Minority Issues - Infidelity - Loss of Trust - Conflict Prevention and Resolution - Gender Issues - Financial Difficulties - Chronic Fatigue Syndrome - Sexual Problems - Unwelcome Feelings, Thoughts or Behaviours -

or if you are interested in knowing yourself better, working with dreams or nightmares, then these and more can be worked with in 1 to1 Phone Counselling.

We are offering, at this time, a free initial half hour session. This offer is open for a limited period, therefore contacting us now will give you the opportunity of discussing your problem and getting a sense of the process before launching into therapy.

Phone counselling is not for everyone and from a therapist's  perspective there are certain limitations such as decreased awareness of a client's body signals, or the extra support that a hand for example, can give. Such limitations, however, do not prevent the power of therapy working on the phone.

"I'm always thinking too much and I thought working on the phone would just put me in my head even more. But finding myself flat on my back on the floor, phone at my shoulder and tears in my eyes, with a sense of joy in my body, I realise how wrong I was"... S.M. Denmark.
